A Special Kind of Education – LC Teacher

This morning, in the elementary school chapel, we sang the song He Knows My Name.

My eyes filled with tears as this song resonated with my heart. I thought of our students in our new special education program and their tremendous struggles academically and emotionally. To have a special education program in our elementary school, to sing and watch these students learn about a God who knows them, loves them and catches all those tears of frustration and struggle. To recognize that before they were even born God designed their life path and that they wouldn’t have to settle for an education in a place where God is not mentioned. It overwhelmed me, and once again reminded me it is my privilege to go to work each day and work within a calling that is dear to my heart, in a place where God is recognized and praised.

I have only known these students for a short part of their journey. Parents, you have walked this road for many years with them. I pray for you today: that these words will give you comfort, hope and grace for the journey. God knows your name: he knows the name of your child. He formed your son/daughter in His perfect likeness, and he catches all the tears that fall. LC is now a place where these special learners and those who come behind them will know of a Father, a Maker, who knows their name and will never leave them.

He Knows My Name

I have a maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hand

Chorus
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call

I have a Father
He calls me his own
He’ll never leave me
No matter where I go
