2021 Annual Fund Drive

Several weeks ago, I woke up with a song stuck in my head…

This little light of mine

I’m going to let it shine

Oh, this little light of mine

I’m going to let it shine

This little light of mine

I’m going to let it shine

Let it shine, all the time, let it shine

… I know, now it’s stuck in your head too. As I was trying to figure out why I was hearing those words over and over in my head, I had an idea!  We need to share how our students at Lynden Christian School are shining a light on the world around them.  One of our goals at LCS is to teach children and young people so that they grow and mature into perceptive and caring Christians who have a transforming influence in the world. The stories of how this is happening are amazing.

This month we kick off our end of the year giving campaign known as the Annual Fund Drive. As a part of this effort, we will be sharing stories with you that highlight how your support helps to let our light shine. Here is a highlight of some of the stories we plan to share:

  • The story of a seventh-grade student who makes and sells beautiful jewelry and then donates part of the proceeds to Bete Hosanna, a home in Ethiopia for orphans who are aging out of the government orphanage. To date, she has donated $2,000! It’s a beautiful example of a young girl who is letting her light shine.
  • Stories from the elementary school “CREW”, and how we are intentionally teaching kids to serve one another in love.
  • Stories of our high school students responding in love to our neighbors who have lost everything in the floods by partnering with Samaritans Purse to help with recovery efforts.
  • Stories from Second Chance. You will meet some of the staff and hear how the Lord is using donated items to bless the greater community around us. This is truly a team effort and we couldn’t do any of it without the LC community’s desire to let their little light shine.

Funds raised will be used to ensure there is enough tuition assistance for families who need the extra help to provide a Christian education for their children.  It will also be used to pay down debt so we can move forward with other much-needed capital improvement projects. And in these uncertain times, there are always unexpected needs that these funds help to provide for. Please follow LCS on Facebook and Instagram so you don’t miss any of these encouraging stories!

Thank you for following along with us as we highlight the work being done to bring His name all the Glory!
