“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Col. 3:23
After graduating from LC in 2005, I attended Calvin University and received a BA in Secondary Education, History in 2009. After that, I spent five years teaching high school social studies at Sunnyside Christian in Sunnyside, WA. While there, I earned my master’s degree in Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum: Social Studies Secondary Education from the University of Missouri. The Lord then led my husband and I to Sydney, Australia for a year where we spent time working and traveling internationally when we could. We returned to Lynden in 2015 and have had our three daughters since that time. While staying at home with my daughters for a few years, I also spent time coaching volleyball, tutoring, and long-term subbing at LC. I returned to teaching social studies at LC in January of 2020. My husband and I have called Sonlight CRC our church home since landing in Lynden.
I am passionate about our past and our world and enjoy any opportunity I have to explore different countries, diverse peoples, and disparate ideas. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to examine diverse perspectives and complex topics with our students through a biblical lens. I’m so grateful for a Christian community and opportunities for academic exploration at LC and the opportunity I have to share my passion.
