I was born in Fargo, North Dakota, and grew up on farms in central and east Texas. I hold a Master’s Degree in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Tyler. My passion is both making and teaching art. When I am not doing that, I like to garden, camp, rockhound for agates and other gemstones, and spend time with my family.

I am married to Amy, and we have two daughters and a son. We attend Birch Bay Bible Community Church. Every student that comes into my classroom has God-given artistic talents. I enjoy watching them realize those talents and helping them grow.
