I have the privilege of teaching Floral Design and Horticulture at LCHS.  God has given us such a beautiful world to live in. In both of the classes I teach, we have the opportunity to have a front row seat in seeing what an amazing and creative Creator we serve.  I love flowers and gardening and it is so fun to share all the interesting paths or careers that can be pursued in these areas.  We do many hands-on projects, field trips, and meet people who have turned these skills into occupations.  Each spring in our horticulture class, we have a three-week sale of all of the hanging baskets, patio pots, and basket stuffers that students planted and tended in the greenhouse.  There are so many practical skills and unique experiences these classes offer to balance some of the more academic and rigorous parts of a high schoolers schedule.

Wisconsin was where I grew up and called home. I am a graduate of Calvin University with a degree in elementary and special education.  Married to Jon DeJong and mom to five kids who attend (or have attended) LC.  Wife of a dairy farmer, owner of a small flower business called HomeGrown Flowers.  Life is full and (mostly) fantastic.  Thankful to be a part of the LC community.
