“Be still and know that I am God.” Ps. 46:10a
I grew up in the small town of Wheatfield, Indiana with both parents who were Christian School educators. I graduated from Illiana Christian High School and went on to Calvin College (now University). I graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with minors in English and Science. I started my teaching career at Lynden Christian and taught 3rd grade from 2001-2006 and during that time I married Jeff DeJong a local dairy farmer. I took fifteen years off from teaching to care for our three kids (Addie, Case, and Jess) and learn the role of dairy wife. In 2020, I was hired on as a Learning Partner for Lynden Christian, then in 2021 a 3rd grade teacher, and now RX therapist and high school Ag teacher, learning new roles as needs arise. I have also coached middle school track and middle school and high school volleyball. I have worn many hats here at LC, but one thing remains constant-my passion for teaching kids about our wonderful Creator God and the world He has given us.
It is an honor to be a part of Lynden Christian School. My favorite classroom verse and my deep hope for each student is the same: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18 “Grow in grace, Serve in love.”
When I am not at school, I am usually chasing my three kids around to different activities. We attend Bethel CRC. I also enjoy gardening, picking sweet corn, hiking, camping, water sports, and traveling to the Midwest to see family and friends.
