I grew up in Sunnyside, Washington, in the heart of the Yakima Valley, graduating from Sunnyside Christian School. I attended Dordt University and graduated with my B.A. from Central Washington University in Ellensburg in 1994. I received my M.Ed. from Dordt University in 2006. Prior to Lynden Christian, I served as art teacher in three Christian school communities: Hanford Christian in Hanford, California; Sheboygan Christian in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and Calvin Christian in Escondido, California. I started teaching at Lynden Christian in 2025.

My wife, Jessica, and I are blessed with three children: Jocie, Sierra, and Darin. I enjoy creating my own artwork, including illustrating the sermons I hear in church each week, grilling, watching baseball and college football, and working in my yard.

I am passionate about teaching art to all age groups of students, especially from a Biblical perspective. It is my deep hope that my students see God as the Master Artist, know they are called by God to create, and therefore make themselves available to contribute their creativity to God’s World.
