But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

I grew up in Colorado where I attended Denver Christian School. After graduating, I went to Calvin College, where I met my husband, Greg Bode. We were married and moved to Lynden and I finished earning my teaching degree at Western Washington University.

We moved to Rolling Fork, Mississippi in 1981 to work for Mississippi Christian Family services. In Mississippi, I taught preschool, handicapped adults and also severely handicapped school-age children. This was a one year volunteer commitment with the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee.

I started teaching first grade at Lynden Christian in 1982 and taught for six years until our oldest son was born. I enjoyed staying at home for many years, taking care of our three boys (Ryan, Tyler and Reid) and occasionally substitute teaching.

In July of 2000 our family moved to Cochabamba, Bolivia where I once again had the opportunity to teach. I taught second grade for two years at Carachipampa Christian School. I am very thankful for this interesting opportunity to teach at an international Christian school.

We returned to Lynden in 2002, I substituted throughout the county for the 2002-2003 school year. In 2003, I once again started teaching first grade at Lynden Christian in a shared position with Lori Vander Laan. In 2008, I began to teach full-time again in first grade.

I praise the Lord for all the wonderful and different teaching opportunities I have experienced over the years. My favorite verse is Acts 1:8 because I believe that at Lynden Christian we are equipping students to make an influence on their world wherever they may end up in life.
