I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I attended Christian schools from K-12. I graduated from Calvin College with a BA in elementary education and began my teaching in the southwest, working for two years at Crownpoint Christian School and then for seven years at Rehoboth Christian School. I met my husband, Keith, who is a high school teacher, while I was doing my student teaching at Rehoboth. We stayed in the southwest for 14 years, completing our masters degrees in education at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
We moved here to the Pacific Northwest when our oldest child was ready to start school, and both of our kids have gone through the Lynden Christian School system. Since our move here in 1992, I have done a variety of things: worked at LCS as a teacher’s aide, worked as a receptionist at Lynden Family Medicine, worked as a secretary in the middle school office, and now I am back in the classroom again after taking a 14 year break! I am enjoying my time back in school very much, and am grateful to God for continually providing the right job opportunities for me and my family. The first grade students are constantly amazing, consistently lovable, and continually learning and teaching me new things.
