I was raised in northwest Iowa and attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, graduating with a BA in sociology. My husband Chuck and I moved to Holland, Michigan, after graduation where he attended Western Theological Seminary and I worked as a juvenile probation officer for Allegan County Probate Court. We took our first church in Midland Park, New Jersey, where I worked for the Division of Youth and Family Services in Patterson, New Jersey, working as a caseworker with abused/neglected families.

We next resided in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, for eight years where I was employed by the Solicitor General’s Department working as a counselor/caseworker in the correctional facilities. It was during these years that Gonzaga University came to Calgary and offered an offsite program. I received my Masters’ in Counseling Degree from Gonzaga in 1989. Our family next moved to the Everson area where we have lived since 1990 and I have worked as an elementary school counselor ever since.

We have three daughters. Jillian is a 2011 graduate of Lynden Christian. My husband Chuck pastored Nooksack Valley Reformed Church for 29 years.

I am enjoying working in a Christian school setting with elementary children. I find it necessary to ask God for guidance each day while remembering one of my favorite passages “unless God builds the house, we labor in vain.”
