I am a graduate of Dordt College and received my Masters in Education from the University of Northern Iowa. I have been at Lynden Christian School since 1992. I taught 5th grade for six years and then moved to the Central Office where I served as the school’s Development Director. In 2007, I decided to return to teaching 5th grade students but also continue as the LCS Endowment Fund Director. In 2015, I felt the Lord’s leading to join the elementary staff as their principal.

As a Christian parent, grandparent, and principal, I believe we need to do our best in giving our children a strong Christian foundation. Lynden Christian School is an extension of the Christian home and church where the staff members are committed caring Christians who do their best in teaching all the subjects from a Christian perspective. We believe God created this world, it was smudged and tainted by sin, and redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. We now need to live in the joy of our salvation and be a Christian transforming influence in His world. All of us, including our children, will hopefully be shining lights and carry on shalom for Jesus in His world. Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace, wholeness, health, and blessing. It is the harmony God intends for the world and how God wants things to be. Shalom is peace with yourself, with your neighbor, with the earth, and with God.

My wife Colleen and I are members at Sonlight Community Christian Reformed Church. Our son Michael and daughter-in-law, Megan are teachers in Thailand. We are also proud grandparents of our grandson, Gerrit. Our daughter Courtney is working in the business field. We enjoy living in the beautiful northwest where we can enjoy the beauty of God’s wondrous creation.
