“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news.” -Romans 10:15

I was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan. I attended Calvin College where I earned a degree in Elementary Education. I graduated from Calvin in 2005 then moved to Arizona with my husband Hendrik (a LC grad) where I taught Kindergarten at an inner city school in Phoenix. We moved to Lynden the following year. For six years I taught both Kindergarten and First Grade at Skyline Elementary in Ferndale. In 2012 I accepted a job at Fisher Elementary where I then taught both First grade and Kindergarten for three years. I am excited and honored to have become a part of the LC community in 2015. I am grateful for the opportunity to do what I love, which is to teach children about God’s truths and who He is while discovering the talents that each one of them has been given to use for His Kingdom. I want each child who comes into my classroom to know that God has give each one of us beautiful feet. These feet will get hurt or dirty but can always be cleaned by God’s grace and mercy. God’s calls us to use our feet to serve others and bring His good news.

My husband Hendrik is a Physician Assistant in Bellingham. We have three beautiful daughters: Caitlin, Katherine, and Megan. We are active members at Sonlight Community Church where we have long served as youth leaders. Our family enjoys spending time in God’s creation by hiking, running, and camping.
