Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

My name is Sandy Van Zonneveld, and I am honored to be a sixth grade teacher at Lynden Christian School. When I was a senior in high school, my family and I returned to the U.S. after serving in Brazil as a missionary family for eleven years. In 1984, I graduated from Calvin College, which led to a sixth grade teaching position for the Chula Vista City School District in California. Subsequent years were rewarded with an M.A. in Educational Administration from San Diego State University. After teaching in the public school system for five years, through a set of providential circumstances, the Lord led me to Lynden Christian where I have been teaching since 1991.

Having been in several different school systems (9 schools in my K-12 years), I am very passionate about the value of Christian education. What drives me most as a teacher is the opportunity to be in the crossroads on a daily basis helping students find answers to life’s ultimate questions. I love the challenge of discovering with students how life intersects with faith and learning. Every day there are opportunities to learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ, holding students accountable to giving God a “good return on His investment in us.”

My husband, Bill, and I are also very grateful for the opportunity to send our three daughters to Lynden Christian. Contrary to our own schooling experiences, we can testify as parents to the nurturing and guidance that our girls are receiving at LC. What a blessing it is to partner with teachers in helping our daughters know God more deeply, love Him more earnestly and serve Him more wholeheartedly!
