1st Grade

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;  I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."  Isaiah 43: 1b-3.

I was born in Texas, but grew up primarily in northern Colorado. I graduated from Colorado College in 2008 with a B.A. in music and my elementary teacher certification. I met my husband--Bellingham born and raised--during my freshman year of college and married him two years later. When I graduated, we moved back to the Pacific Northwest for my husband to pursue his master's degree.

I began teaching at Evergreen in 2009, and I started out as the general music teacher. I fell in love with the school community and the beautiful picture of the body of Christ that was lived around and with me every day. The love and care that encompasses staff, students, and families at this school is something truly special, and I am so honored to be a part of it. After teaching at Evergreen for 3 years, we moved to Seattle with my husband's job. While there, I continued to teach music in both public and private schools. We have been back in Bellingham since 2016, and I began teaching first grade in the fall fo 2017. Classroom teaching is a wonderful new adventure, and brings me joy every single day. I love the energy and curiosity with which first graders approach their world, I love seeing their faith deepen and develop as they explore their own relationships with God, and I am so very honored to be able to shepherd these precious members of his kingdom.

I am married to Andrew, who works locally as a geologist, and we have two children--Peregrine and Sylvia--who both attend ECS. We worship at Lettered Streets Covenant Church here in Bellingham, and in our free time, we love to hike, ride bikes, enjoy any sunshine we can, travel, read good books, and walk down to LaFeen's for donuts.
