“Just one thing have I asked of Adonai; only this will I seek: to live in the house of Adonai all the days of my life, to see the beauty of Adonai and visit in His temple.” Psalm 27:4 CJB
My name is Monica Ruby and though I’m originally from Chicago, California has been my home since the age of 12, and specifically Southern California once I finished high school. I graduated from Pacific Christian College in Fullerton (now Hope International University) with a double major in Social Work and Bible, and went on to get my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Walla Walla University. I worked many years with “troubled teens”, often in residential mental health settings, then eventually returned to school for an MS in School Counseling from the University of La Verne (California). Between mental health and school counseling this is now my 20th year as a counselor, spending an equal amount of time in each field (including 4 years at Ontario Christian High School in Ontario, California). I am also a licensed therapist here in the state of Washington, and recently passed my exam for my Washington State Credential for School Counseling, so you can trust that I am fully qualified to handle the various needs of your kids, large or small.
In addition to counseling, I’ve also spent time on the mission field, initially as a teacher for Deaf children in Mexico, and since then doing outreaches with YWAM (Youth With A Mission), until finally going full-time with them from 2005-2009, during which time I met my husband Steve. Since then we’ve had the privilege of living/serving on 2 different Native American Reservations in Arizona, and even living in a small farming community in North Florida. We haven’t yet been here in Lynden very long but we’re enjoying it a great deal, though we’re still trying to adapt to the weather! J I look forward to continuing to build relationships with the students, staff, and surrounding community!
