After graduating from Lynden Christian High School in 1971, I attended Calvin College and earned a BA in Secondary Education and Social Studies in 1975. Following my college graduation, I completed a fifth year of college at Western Washington University and specialized in physical education. I have been teaching high school PE at Lynden Christian School since the Fall of 1976. I have coached boys JV and Varsity Basketball, JV Football and served as Assistant Varsity Football coach. Presently, I coach Boys and Girls Track and Field and also serve as training room supervisor.
I love teaching PE! It is such a dynamic area of study and a huge challenge to keep current with the continual changes in training methods, studies on how kids learn, and research on better ways of exercising, eating and taking care of ourselves. It is so critical to expose young people to healthy lifestyles and encourage them to make good choices now and for the rest of their lives. Teaching at Lynden Christian provides a wonderful opportunity to implement all of these things in a Christian framework, where it all belongs.
