Career and Academic Counselor

I graduated from Lynden Christian in 1977 (wow, where does the time go!) and from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1981. Upon my graduation from Calvin, I started work as an Admissions Counselor and then as an Assistant Director of Admissions until 1998. I traveled many miles and visited many Guidance Offices over the years and developed a heart for high school students and the decisions that they need to make. After our move to Lynden in 1998, I began to work part-time in the Central Office and then in the fall of 2002, began as the Guidance/Academic Counselor. I am so thankful for this opportunity to be working with students as they discover God’s plan for their life.

Because of my experiences in admissions, I work hard at keeping my room warm, fun and inviting. I hope that students and parents will always feel comfortable to stop in and gather the information they need. I also serve as the academic advisor for students and register each student for their classes. What a joy it is to get to know the students and watch them grow in their walk with Christ as they mature from freshmen to seniors.

Outside of school, my passion is my family. I love the busyness that comes with being a wife and mom. I enjoy volunteer at my church. My hobbies include gardening, cooking and paper crafts. I love paper and ribbon! My faith walk has been an amazing journey. I have felt God’s presence and comfort when we experienced the loss of our daughter to His wonderful grace. I am constantly reminded in my daily life of His faithfulness.
