“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Once a Washingtonian, always a Washingtonian. Growing up in Bellingham, my sister and I often played outside with the neighborhood children and built tree forts. We not only received strong academic support as students at Lynden Christian, but also formation of a Biblical worldview that has proven invaluable on my journey to adulthood. After graduating in 2002, I attended Trinity Western University where I finished two degrees in Education, History, and English.
Surprisingly my first teaching position took me to a small public school in rural Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains. This adventure brought experience with first to third grade students, a close knit school community, spiritual formation, and lovely fall colors.
The summer of 2013, I rejoined my family in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. So fun being an aunt! God also provided a wonderful year teaching in Evergreen Christian’s preschool. Since then I have enjoyed teaching third grade at Evergreen – a wonderful age for imagination, curiosity, and exploring creation together. Like Lucy entering a world of wonder as she steps through the wardrobe into Narnia, I hope my students will enter into God’s story with captivated imaginations and passion for beholding the God of the Bible.
During my free time I enjoy singing in choir, hiking for a mountain view, and snuggling with my cat during a family favorite movie. The Lord has given me a love for studying his Word through Precept studies and growing with his people at Hillcrest Chapel. As God writes my story and leads me many different places, I am constantly reminded to live like a Narnian – for after all “He’s not a tame lion.” Excited for the adventure ahead. Further up, and further in!
