“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Colossians 3:23-24

I graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1979 and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education in 1983 from Northwest Nazarene College. In 1989, I completed my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (Reading) at the University of Washington. I have had post graduate training through the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD): 1998, Initial Training; 2000, Advanced Training; 2004, Search and Teach Training; 2005, Mastery Training. I am a certified teacher as well as a certified educational therapist.

I served as a classroom teacher for 8 years, first at Mountlake Christian and then at Bellevue Christian School. Since 1998, I have served as an educational therapist in the Discovery Program at LCS. I believe that God blesses each child with unique gifts and talents. However, we live in a fallen world, so some children struggle with learning. These children need to be served by having their educationally weak areas strengthened. They are encouraged to reach their full potential with God’s help through the teamwork of classroom teachers, educational therapists and parents. My desire is that each child will understand his or her value in the eyes of God and be able to effectively contribute to the community in which they live.

My husband, Kevin, and I have two children who have graduated from LCHS, Caitlin (2009) and John (2012). We are members of Third Christian Reformed Church where I have been involved in various children’s ministries.
