5th Grade Teaacher

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” 1 John 5:20-21 ESV

For a good part of my childhood, I was raised on a farm in Eastern Washington, and as a result, I have a love for God’s creation, and I enjoy spending time in the outdoors. From canoeing to archery, to hiking and biking, I love to explore the wonders of God’s creation and am in awe of the wonderful things He has made.

In 2008, I graduated from Trinity Western University with my B.A. in English Literature and shortly after, my wife and I moved to Whatcom County making Lynden our home. That year, I began substitute teaching for Lynden Christian Schools. In 2010, I earned my TESOL Certificate (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Western Washington University and began teaching ELL (English Language Learners) with the Whatcom Literacy Council. I also received my Education Certification from Western Washington University in 2012 and continued subbing and teaching throughout the county.

I first came to Evergreen Christian School in 2014, and I am so thankful to be a part of the staff here. I am also grateful to be a part of Lynden Christian Schools, a long-standing community of Christian educators that seeks to glorify Jesus Christ by partnering with families and their churches. I believe that God has uniquely designed me to be a Christian educator. I desire to teach others to follow Christ as they learn to establish His Kingdom here on the Earth throughout all spheres of society. I currently teach middle school English Language Arts, Science, and Bible. I also enjoy coaching the Evergreen Archery Team.

When I am not teaching, I am usually exploring God’s Creation, reading, enjoying a hot cup of tea, or spending time with my family and friends. My wife and I are members of First Reformed Church, and we enjoy trying various ethnic foods and traveling around the Pacific Northwest.
