God is Good! I am so deeply grateful for the opportunity to minister at Lynden Christian School and for the experience and training that has equipped me to do so. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Calvin College and a Masters of Divinity degree from Trinity Western Seminary. From 1993-1998, I was grateful to serve the high school as one of its Bible and History teachers. In 1998, I responded to a call from Sonlight Christian Reformed church to minister as their Pastor of Worship and Single Adults. Following a rich four years at Sonlight, I am back at Lynden Christian in a new role as Chaplain and Counselor. The greatest privilege of the ministry the Lord has allowed me to enjoy as Chaplain and Counselor has been the joy of creating a deeper awareness of the presence of God in the often difficult circumstances that occasion my relationships with the staff and students. I believe firmly in the sovereignty of God and his purposeful presence in our lives, working all things together for His Kingdom and our good. Essentially, I make introductions. As a pastoral counselor, I delight in building meaningful relationships with staff and students that allow me to introduce them to the tender, compassionate grace and the often times convicting, confronting truth of Jesus during the crises of their lives; times when it’s just plain difficult to see any evidence of Him. Paul assures me that “All scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work….” When the Word meets the world, things happen. My job, by God’s grace and empowering, is to make the most of every opportunity to ensure that meeting happens.
