Jog-a-thon for the middle and elementary schools will be held on Friday, September 27. Envelopes with sponsors names are due on Tuesday, October 15. Money will be due Friday, October 18.  Hat Day is Friday, September 20. Blue & White Day is on the day of the Jog-a-thon. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to come and cheer for their children on Jog-a-thon day.  A schedule of the jog times can be found here.

Jog-a-thon COOKIES - We need 10-15 volunteers to bring 3 dozen cookies each for our Jog-a-thon.  They can be homemade or store-bought!  Please bring them to the middle school office by Thursday, September 26.  If you can help in this way, contact Tessa Eshuis at tessaeshuis@gmail.com.  Thank you!

ES and MS Playground Duty Volunteers – Thank you to all the parents who returned the playground duty sheets from Parent Night.  Calendars for parent help with playground duty are being finalized.  Parent supervision at recess is a huge blessing to our teachers and students!  If you have any questions or would still like to help in this area, please email choekema@lyncs.org.

Thank You for Your Help at The Middle School (at dismissal) – Thank you parents and student drivers for dropping off/picking up on Drayton Street either by the HS, ES or Second Chance.  If you must pick up your child by the MS – please form a single line of traffic or come after the buses leave at 3:20 pm. Pick up is much quicker after 3:20 pm. No parking/loitering/waiting in the fire lane on the West end of the shop building, ONLY BUSES may drive West (toward the bus loop) on the driveway on the South side of the Horticulture green houses.  Thank you for helping us look out for the safety of our students!

Medication at SchoolAny students who need medication (over-the-counter, prescription or herbal) at school or would like an emergency supply on hand must have that checked in by a parent at the office, accompanied by a signed physician order (in the “Forms” section at Lyncs.org).  Medications need to be in their original containers. New paperwork is needed EVERY year even if there is no change in medication or dosage.

Picture Day Online Ordering Option – Orders for school pictures can be made online this year at mylifetouch.com.  From the website, you will be able to view more options and can pay with a credit card or PayPal.  The Lynden Christian Picture Day ID is: LS519025Q0. Picture Day is Tuesday, September 17 for the middle school and Wednesday, September 18 for the elementary school.  If you plan to use the envelope instead of going online it must be sent to school on or before picture day.  Any late orders will need to be submitted online. Life Touch will not accept late envelope orders this year.

Adult Education Series – On October 7 & 21, the talented Rachel Hernes of ReCreated will be visiting our newly renovated high school shop to teach us how to make a couple of her favorite projects!  The October 7 class will be making a framed magnet board with dry-brush finish, and on October 21 she will walk us through the steps of creating wooden snowflakes!  Classes are designed for you to take your project home with you at the end of the evening.  Each class is $35.00 to cover the cost of materials. Students under 14 years old will require an adult to attend with them.  RSVP to Ezra Stump at estump@lyncs.org. Class size is limited!

“Moms in Prayer” - What if you could change the world--not just for today but for generations to come?  At Moms in Prayer International, we believe that a mom can be the single greatest force for good in the lives of her children and the children around her.  We believe that lives and whole communities are changed forever when moms gather together to pray to the only One who can change a human heart.  Moms can make the difference as they reach out to God in prayer--moms just like you!

The Lynden Christian Moms in Prayer group invites you to their welcome meeting for the 2019-2020 school year on Tuesday, September 17, 9:00-10:00 am in the Middle School band room (room 210).  Childcare is provided.  We will continue meeting on Tuesdays throughout the school year, and moms, aunts and grandmas are welcome to drop in any time.  Moms in Prayer has a Friday group as well, which will start on September 27.  For more information, please contact Meg Krieg at 360-988-2969 or gemnoj@hotmail.com.

High School Sports Admission Fee and Student ID Cards for K-8 students - The Northwest Conference policy is that all elementary and middle school students attending high school sports competitions must pay for entrance. The admission fee is $3.00 if they are accompanied by an adult. Middle school students without appropriate supervision will pay $6.00. Elementary students who arrive without proper supervision will not be admitted. Middle school students may also be asked to present a student ID card. Students will receive ID cards after school pictures have been takenWe are now accepting credit cards at the gate for admission to athletic contests! 

General Athletics - We have had a long-standing tradition of good sportsmanship and wish to build on this. However, we have a negative reputation for leaving a mess in the stands and creating extra work for custodians at LC and the schools we visit. Elementary School (K-4)

Box Tops - The Box Tops program is changing the way we earn cash for our school! Going forward, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt into the new and improved free Box Tops mobile App. You can still send traditional Box Tops to school with you child (classes are still competing). If you’d rather not download the app, yet still want to help, turn the receipts in to the cardboard center within 14 days of purchase, and we will do it for you!

Fred Meyer Shoppers – Are you a Fred Meyer Shopper? Make sure you go online and link your card to our school using #JE483. This helps earn money for our school each time you shop using your Fred Meyer rewards card!

Tyson A+ Labels – We are still looking for more. These labels can have the potential of giving our school 24 cents per label! So keep your eyes open, they are on most Tyson Products! These also count for the label collection each month.

Elementary Student Pick-Up - Parents are encouraged to move quickly and cautiously through the Drayton Street pick-up lane, or park across the street between the Recycling Center and the Second Chance Thrift Store to pick up students at the end of the day.  Please note: the yellow curb just before the pick-up lane is for vehicles waiting to enter the lane.  Cars should not block the street in any way while waiting to get into the lane.  Thank you for helping us make sure our students are safe!

Middle School (5-8)

Attendance Policy for Athletic Participation - In order to participate in a practice or contest/performance that day, a student must have attended school the ENTIRE day.  Acceptable exceptions are:

  1. Pre-arranged excused absence on file in the office (i.e. medical/legal appointment, funeral, school sponsored events) with a signed note from a doctor verifying the appointment.
  2. Approval from the Activities Director or Building Administration.

High School (9-12)

HS Picture Re-take Day is Monday, September 23 first thing in the morning. If students did not attend registration and get their pictures taken at that time, they must have them taken to obtain their ASB card. This includes seniors as these photos will be used for the wall photo collage of the senior class of 2020. A list of students who need ASB cards is in the office. If you desire retakes, please bring your original picture packet with you to return to the LifeTouch representative.

National Christian College Fair will be on Thursday, September 26 from 8:30-10:30 am in the student lounge.  A Financial Aid Workshop will be held throughout the morning. We are expecting close to 30 Christian colleges/universities!  Parents, students and visitors are encouraged to attend.

Registration Fees – Like last year, all high school registration fees will be billed to you including fall athletic participation fees, if applicable.  These fees are NOT part of tuition and must be paid to the high school.  You will be emailed an invoice in late September.  These fees can be paid by cash, check or credit card to Lynden Christian High School, 515 Drayton St., Lynden, WA  98264.  They cannot be automatically withdrawn as tuition payments are.  If you have questions, please call Vicki Lindquist at the HS office, 360-318-9525 Opt 3.  (Registration fees include book lease, ASB, Junior and Senior Class Dues, Advanced Placement Fees, and class lab fees if applicable).

Welcome Back Potluck - Our annual potluck is coming up on Friday, September 27 from 5:30-7:00 pm at Cordata Church.  Every Evergreen family is invited to join us! End of Day Transportation Changes - If your typical transportation schedule changes (bus stop changes or persons picking up), that change needs to be communicated to the school. Contact the school office or email the teacher plus ecsattendance@lyncs.org at least an hour before the end of the day so that the information can be given to the child and teacher. Be sure you have received an email reply to know the message was received.
