Mini Cheer Camp for girls in grades 1-6 will be held after school on October 18 and 19 from 3:15-5:30 pm with a half-time performance at the football game on Friday, October 20.  The cost is $40.00 which includes a t-shirt and pom poms.  Please use “camp discount” at checkout if you already have poms.  Registration is ONLINE ONLY.  The Mini Cheer Camp registration option will pop up when you click here and select “Lynden Christian High” for the school.

High School Fall Play - The Women of Lockerbie, by Deborah BrevoortA mother from New Jersey roams the hills of Lockerbie Scotland, looking for her son’s remains that were lost in the crash of Pan Am Flight 103. She meets the women of Lockerbie, who are fighting the U.S. government to obtain the clothing of the victims found in the plane’s wreckage. The women, determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love, want to wash the clothes of the dead and return them to the victim’s families. Bring your tissues as you experience this story of loss, grief, hope and love. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Performance dates are: October 13, 14, 19 and 21 at 7:00 pm in the WFAC. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students/seniors 62 and over. Tickets are on sale NOW! You can fill out a ticket order form at the Central Office or talk to a box office representative on Mondays and Wednesdays  11:00 am – 3:00 pm. This Friday only, ticket sales are 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in the Central Office.  Otherwise, come at 6:30 pm to the WFAC to purchase tickets for Friday or Saturday night.

Mr. Bob Zeilenga, an estate attorney from the Barnabas Foundation, will return to Lynden on Monday, October 23 through Thursday, October 26 to provide you with his knowledge and help. Over the past years, he has helped hundreds of families set up wise estate plans. If you have not yet met with him, now is the time to take advantage of this valuable service. Polar Express Shopping Tour - FOLC would like to invite you to participate in its first ever Polar Express Shopping Tour on Saturday, November 18, 2017. We hope to bring approximately 200 people on an exclusive Christmas shopping tour with VIP access to downtown Lynden stores and then an afternoon at University Village. This is a new event to LC and an effort to increase funds for our tuition assistance program. Tickets are $95.00 per person, corporate sponsorship opportunities are available. Find FAQs and a downloadable order form on the school website (“Resource” tab, T.R.I.P.).   Instant purchase of cards is possible between 8:00-9:00 am any Thursday at the Lynden campus Central Office or at the next $peed $ales on November 8 and December 13 (3:00-7:00 pm).  This is also a great time to come in person and have your questions answered.

Parent-Teacher Conferences – Mark your calendars!

 

P-8 Picture Retakes will be first thing in the morning on Wednesday, October 25 for students who were absent on picture day or those who wish to have new pictures taken (students desiring retakes will need to bring their picture packets back on retake day).  Any homeschool children or preschool siblings are welcome to come in before school (between 8:15-8:45 am) to have pictures taken as well.

Jog-a-thon Thank You and T-Shirts – Thank you to all the parents, students and community for supporting this fun event!  Extra jog-a-thon t-shirts are available for purchase in the middle school office for $10.00.  Sizes and quantities are very limited (mostly adult sizes). First come, first serve.

Morning Student Drop-off – Just a reminder that students should not be dropped off for school before 8:10 am.  The buildings and playgrounds are not properly staffed for supervision of students until after that time.  Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping us keep our students safe.

Music Department Magazine Fundraiser – It’s that time of year again! The music students in grades 7-12 will be taking orders for magazine subscriptions starting Friday, October 20 through Monday, October 30 to support our music program (music, equipment, festivals, trips, uniforms, etc.). If you or someone you know would like to renew or start a new magazine, consider supporting our music department at the same time! “Moms in Prayer” is a ministry comprised of women who meet on a weekly basis to pray for our children, teachers and the school. All moms are invited to join us.  We meet at the Middle School every Tuesday morning at 9:00 am and in the afternoon at 2:00 pm as well as every Friday morning at 9:00 am. Childcare is only available at the Tuesday 9:00 am meeting. Coke Product Codes -  The Coke Program gives the school money for every code we enter online.  Coke codes can be found inside boxes and on caps.  These can be dropped off the at the Recycle Center or sent in with an elementary student at the LC campus.

Vision and Hearing Screening will take place during the month of October.  School nurses, Mrs. Lyndsey Lenssen and Mrs. Hannah Faber, will be conducting the screenings and will contact you if there are any concerns.

Middle School (5-8)

Middle School Music Chapel/Assembly will take place on Thursday, November 2 at 8:45 am in the middle school gym. The 7th and 8th grade band, orchestra and choirs will be performing in a Veterans Day themed assembly. We would be honored to have people attend who have family members currently serving, those who have served and those who would like to say "thank you" to our armed services for the freedoms we have today.  Ultimately, everyone is invited as we praise God for those willing to serve and for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, like Jesus did for us, so that we would be able to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

Lynden Campus 6th Grade Musical - “Star Quest” by Christy Semsen, calls on the crew of the Starship J-316 to a mission of spreading the Word of God to everyone they meet! Along the way the crew learns the importance of memorizing scripture and learns the importance of having God’s Word in their hearts.  The musical will be performed in the Worship and Fine Arts Center on Thursday, November 16 and Friday, November 17, at 7:30 pm (doors open at 7:00 pm). Limited seating is also available at the matinee performance on Thursday, November 16 at 12:30 pm.  Admission prices are $3.00 for grades 5 and under, $6.00 for grade 6 and over or $5.00 with a canned or non-perishable food item for Project Hope.  Proceeds will benefit the music fund and other 6th grade activities.

High School (9-12)

Fall Music Concert is scheduled for Thursday, October 26 at 7:30 pm in the WFAC.  This concert will feature the high school band, choir and orchestra.  A free will offering will be taken during this event.

Mom’s Fall Social - All Evergreen moms are invited to gather together for a time of fellowship over food! Save the date for Friday, October 27 from 8:45-11:00 am.

Save the Date - Parent-Teacher Conferences will be coming up on November 8 and 9. Please mark your calendars and plan on attending a conference with your child’s teacher on one of these dates. This time is specifically set aside, so please be sure not to schedule out of town trips during these dates. Sign-ups for time slots will be available via www.SignUp.com towards the end of October.

Substitute Teachers - Lynden Christian School is seeking qualified substitute teachers for all grade levels at both the Bellingham and Lynden Campuses. We are seeking candidates who have a passion for nurturing faith and integrating a Biblical perspective into their instruction.  We would also like to add Spanish speaking substitutes to our sub lists. COMMUNITY INFORMATION

Kids Math and Science Expo will be at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 14 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for kids in grades K-6.  Come for an inspiring day of fun and exploration in the areas of science including: 3D printing, snap circuits, alligator robots, touch tank, engineering structures, rockets and more!  Free admission and parking!
