Thursday, March 21

Chess Club meets in the middle school library from 3:15-4:30 pm. This will be our last meeting and our Club PARTY!

Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5

Spring Break – Central Office will be closed on Monday, April 1 and Friday, April 5. The office will be open Tuesday, April 2 through Thursday, April 4 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. All other offices will be closed for the week.

Saturday, April 13

LC Spring Support Saturday - Pancake Day, Car Wash, FOLC Artisan Market and SALE at Second Chance. Pancakes start at 7:00 am!


Plant Sale - Due to the early date set for the Spring Support Saturday, LC horticulture will not be selling plants on that day. However the greenhouses will be staffed if you would like to stop by to reserve a basket, or drop off your planters for us to fill as the weather allows. Our opening date will be the following Saturday, April 20. Look for a special coupon available at the pancake feed and the vendor market to redeem at a later date.  Plant sale hours will be 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturdays and 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm Monday-Fridays.

Are you Interested in Serving as a School Board Member?  The Board Development Committee has been meeting to develop training and support materials for the Lynden Christian School Board.  Part of their work supports the upcoming Board Member Nominating Committee.  If you are interested in or willing to serve as a School Board Member, you can submit information that will be provided to the Nominating Committee by clicking here.

The 49th Annual Theresa Tromp Chess Tournament will be held on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 at Lynden Middle School. This tournament is open to any student in grades K-12 who is enrolled in a public/private school in the Lynden School District. Completed entry forms must be submitted by Thursday, March 14.  Flyers with a complete schedule, tournament rules and prize information ($1,200 for first place!) are available in the school offices and at Chess Club.

Reenrollment – If you have not re-enrolled for the 2019-2020 school year,  the deadline of Sunday, March 17 is approaching quickly. 

Two things that are new this year:

1) re-enrollment can now  be completed on an iPad or cell phone and

2) the reenrollment fee ($100) will ONLY be charged to those who re-enroll after the deadline of March 17

End of 3rd Quarter – The end of 3rd quarter has been moved to Friday, March 29. Report cards will be emailed to High School and Middle School parents during the week of April 8. Elementary School report cards will be sent home on Friday, April 12.

Yearbooks are on sale NOW!  Order yours at  Select “Yearbooks” at the top of the page and type in your school name (then select the specific building you are needing: High School OR Elementary and Middle School).  Yearbooks are $18.00 for elementary and middle school, $70.00 for high school, and can be ordered ONLINE ONLY.

Lost and Found – Please have your child(ren) check the lost and found hooks and shelves located near the recess exit doors for anything that might belong to them.  Our collection keeps growing!

BoxTops and Campbell's Label Points – Box top collection for March is underway! Don’t forget to label any that you send to school with your child’s name and classroom!

Middle School (5-8)

Scholarships for Current 8th Grade Students - Several scholarships are available to 8th grade students who plan to attend Lynden Christian High School. These include the Peter Hoekema Memorial Scholarship ($350) and two Faye Rutgers De Boer Memorial Scholarships ($550). Applications are due TOMORROW Friday, March 15. Applications available in the Middle School and Central offices.

High School (9-12)

Scholarships - New to the Scholarships list at  are the Harold Sterk Memorial Science Scholarship, the Automotive Aftermarket Scholarships, Whatcom County Farm Bureau Scholarships, and the ROTC Minuteman Scholarship Program.

High School Pops Concert - The annual High School Choir Dinner & Pops Concert will be held on April 26 and 27 in the Middle School Gymnasium at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10.00 plus tax and will be sold online. Tickets go on sale March 18, and ticket sales close on April 20. Come and enjoy dinner and exciting music with a “Movie Night” theme!

Re-Enrollment - Spanish Immersion students - for the 2019-2020 school year re-enrollment, follow the instructions that were sent to you on March 4. If you will be adding a Spanish Immersion sibling that has not yet been in school with ECS or LCS, you will want to complete an application for that child ASAP to hold a spot. Opportunity to Bless - ECS invites you to join us in partnering with the Fredette family (Gabrielle – 4th, Elise – 2nd  SI, & Blaise – K SI) as they go to Honduras. Help us bless the children in the hospital there with new or gently used stuffed animals. They need to be the size of a hand or smaller. Collection bins are at both campus locations now through March 22.


Whatcom Community College is offering a workshop for girls ages 11-14 called “Girls Go Tech” on Saturday, April 13.  The workshop includes: hands-on computer labs, lunch, a guest speaker and career/educational information.  A parent/guardian is required to attend with the student, and space is limited.
