Elementary School (P-4)

Creative Arts Week, April 17-21 - Come around the world with us in a glass slipper! Cinderella is the focus of this year’s multicultural theme. Variations of Cinderella appear in almost every world culture. She's known as "Yeh-Shen" in China, "The Rough-Face Girl" to the Algonquin Indians of North America, "Chinye" and "Nyasha" to the people of Africa, and “Adelita” to the people of Mexico. Students in grades K-4 will be spending the week reading and comparing/contrasting different Cinderella stories from all over the world as well as doing some multicultural art. Students will also get to experience “crossing the border” as different countries’ border customs will be placed throughout the hallways. Don’t forget your passports (will be made at school)!

Get involved! There will be an opportunity for parent involvement on Tuesday (18th), Wednesday (19th), and Thursday (20th) during Creative Arts Week. We will need “border agents” to keep our borders secure! Times each day are as follows: 8:45-10:00, 10:30-11:45, 12:45-1:45, and 2:00-3:00. If you would be willing to help, please contact Miss Kooistra (ekooistra@lyncs.org). Thank you! We are excited for another great and memorable week!

Student Pick-up Lane Reminder – Please remember that the pick-up lane in front of the elementary school should remain clear or moving at the start and end of each day.  If you need to wait for a student or need to leave your car for any reason, please park across the street or along Drayton St.  The lane is also used by our preschool parents for drop-off and pick-up between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm each day.  Please, be mindful of this and do not park in the lane if you are volunteering on the playground or bringing hot lunch to a classroom.  Thank you for helping us put the safety of our students first!

Lost and Found – Please have your child(ren) check the lost and found hooks and shelves located near the recess exit doors for anything that might belong to them.  Our collection keeps growing!  Items not claimed by Spring Break will be donated to the Second Chance Thrift Store.

Box Tops and Campbell Label News – March collection is almost done! We need all the participation we can get to meet our goals for the year!  Please send in your Box Tops and Labels with your elementary school student and be sure your child’s teacher’s name is clearly marked on the bag so his or her class will get the credit.

Tyson A+ Project -   Don’t forget about this new program!  Participating schools can

raise up to $12,000 per year.  Tyson labels (as shown) can be sent in with your student or

dropped off at the recycle center. More details can be found at www.ProjectAPlus.tyson.com.

Middle School (5-8)
