Living God’s Story: Rooted, Growing, Serving.

Merry Christmas

From my family to yours, I wish you a merry Christmas! What a great time of year in school and out as we gather with family and friends, sing carols, enjoy gifts, and celebrate Jesus’ birth!

Lynden Christian’s mission to educate children of Christians so that they mature into perceptive, caring Christians is evident throughout our campuses. I see it in classrooms, in the Christ-centered education our students are receiving, and in the relationships between each other. It’s great! God is at work in each of us for our good and His!

It certainly is a season for gifts, the ones that we give and get to receive. Here are a few gifts I have been thinking about:

  • Students, everyone as a child of God; what gifts!
  • Parents and their commitment to their children and Christian education
  • Staff: secretaries, teachers, custodians, bus drivers, coaches, aides, principals, 2nd Chance, recycle center, nurses, technology, and librarians
  • Board members: Dan Turner, Michael TerBeek, Frank DeVries, Butch Kamena, Dale Van Rooyen, BJ Westra, Winerva Kramer, Bryan Van Loo, Dan Gibson, Lori TeVelde, Becky Bos, and Josh Levien
  • Staff Years of Service at LC: We recognized them at the staff Christmas party, but what gifts to share!

10 years - part time employees

  • Wendy Blok, Evergreen librarian
  • Connie Roosma, bus driver

10 years – full time

  • Mark Houseman, director of technology
  • Christ Rast, high school history teacher and assistant principal
  • Thane Veltkamp, 8th grade science teacher
  • Kristen Hinton, high school math
  • Karrin Simpson, high school admin assistant and attendance
  • Karen Rast, elementary librarian

20 years

  • Sharla Ellens, 2nd grade teacher
  • Deanna Pawlowski, Discovery therapist
  • Connie Kooi, 5th grade teacher

Again, Merry Christmas and blessings to you in the New Year.

Paul Bootsma, Superintendent

Support Lynden Christian When You Shop and Travel this Christmas!

Expedia: Stay to Help Program supports Lynden Christian when you book a hotel through the link on our website under the SUPPORT US tab.  The program works a lot like Amazon Smile, with a much higher commission percentage.  Consider trying it out when you book your next hotel stay.  Thank you for all the ways you support LCS!  Your help keeps the cost of tuition as low as possible.

AmazonSmile – You can support Lynden Christian Schools when you do your Christmas shopping on AmazonSmile (www.smile.amazon.com).  AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets you enjoy the same wide selection of products, Prime benefits, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to the eligible charitable organization of your choice.  Just go to www.smile.amazon.com  and select Lynden Christian Schools (benefits both campuses).  There are no strings attached and no setup is necessary.  For all the program details, click here.

Fred Meyer – Sign up for the Fred Meyer’s Community Rewards program!  This program donates cash back to the school based on the Fred Meyer club card holders’ quarterly store purchases. To sign up for the program, follow this link www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards. Our NEW non-profit number is JE483. Even if you’re only an occasional Fred Meyer shopper, this is a huge help to our school! We have 131 households signed up and earned $363.90 this last quarter. Thank you!!!
