Lynden Christian Board of Directors Summary – November 5, 2018
Frank DeVries read a selection from Everybody’s Normal Till You Get to Know Them by John Ortberg. Relationships can happen – even for porcupines – they pull in their quills and learn to do the dance. How will we respond to the porcupines in our lives (with the love of Christ)? And how can we be less of a porcupine to those around us?
Denny and Nancy McHarness from Partners for Schools provided the board with an overview of the “Be the One” program. This has been a highly successful one-on-one mentoring program in the Lynden Public Schools.
The Board Development Committee is underway; one of its first tasks is to identify training that would be beneficial for the school board.
Paul Bootsma provided an overview of “Inclusion” at LC. The education committee has assigned a task force to clarify and improve the practice of inclusion at Lynden Christian.
Whatcom Christian School Alliance (WCSA) has officially been formed by Lynden Christian and Bellingham Christian board members and administrators; the bylaws and articles of incorporation were provided to the LC Board for information. The purpose of the WCSA is to unify, support, and expand the effort of Christian educational institutions in Whatcom County, Washington, and to thereby encourage families and churches in their effort to educate children in Christ.
The meeting was closed with prayer.
