English as a Second Language Program (ESL)
The ESL Program (English as a Second Language) at Lynden Christian High School is a three-year English curriculum with three levels of English placement and yearly advancement. English proficiency is evaluated at admission and students are placed in the appropriate level of English study. Subsequently, students will be able to test out of the ESL Program. Mathematical ability is also evaluated at admission and students are placed in the appropriate level Math program.
The ESL program includes a study skills class to provide support for all the courses in which the student is enrolled. Each student will be required to enroll in this course for their first semester at Lynden Christian School. They will be evaluated each semester to determine the continued need for Study Skills support.
All International students have the option to audit their classes in the first semester until they have developed sufficient proficiency in English.
At the end of each semester, students will be evaluated to determine their continued eligibility for ESL.
An additional cost is assessed to the student's tuition for the ESL program.
